You are a tutorship council

You represent the main monitoring mechanism in tutorship to the minor child's property, because you have to verify that the tutor's administration is sound. Your role actually goes well beyond that: you are also asked to give opinions and authorizations, and in some cases may even have to act on the child's behalf.

For all matters concerning protection of the child's person, contact the Director of Youth Protection at the Centre jeunesse du Québec closest to the child's home.

Your actions should always be guided by the following principles: respecting the child's rights and taking into account the moral, intellectual, emotional and physical needs of the child. You must also take other factors into consideration, for example the child's age, maturity, degree of discernment, health, character, family background, and so on.

The Curateur public is there to help

The Curateur public gives you information, assistance and advice on all aspects of the administration of the child's property.
