Types of tutors

The Curateur public and the Director of Youth Protection at a Centre jeunesse du Québec may also act as tutors to a minor's property.

The parents of a minor child take care of protecting the child's property, because as parents, they are automatically charged with legal tutorship. If for some reason they do not look after the child's property, one or more dative tutors to the property will take over. A third type of tutor, the ad hoc tutor, may also be asked to intervene
