Policy on privacy

Anyone intervening with an incapacitated person or on their behalf must act in the person's interests, in a manner that respects the person's rights, privacy and values, and safeguards their autonomy.

The Curateur public du Québec site does not install any permanent cookies on your computer. Moreover, no personal information is collected unless you give your consent first.

The information conveyed automatically between computers does not identify you personally. It is collected only for the technical requirements of navigation on the Internet and is used for statistical purposes. However, when a temporary cookie is needed for ASP (Active Server Pages) navigation, it is stored in RAM and automatically deleted when you leave the site.

  • The name of the Internet domain (for example, "xcompany.com" if you use a private Internet access account, or "university.edu" if you access it through a university network) and the IP address (e.g. 123.45.67.890) which could enable a Web provider to disclose the identity of the person to which it is assigned;
  • The type of navigator and operating system you use to access our site;
  • The date and time you access our site;
  • The pages you visit; and
  • If you access the www.curateur.gouv.qc.ca site from another site, the address of that site (referring site).

This exchange of information is necessary so that the server can send you a file compatible with your computer equipment. The Curateur public also keeps information tracking the number of visits, which pages are visited most, the technology used by the portal's clientele, the referring site and visitors country of origin.
